Tye Denny, future GQ model

I think I start every post with an apology for being WAY behind on blogging! Life is busy.
That's pretty much the reason :)

A few weeks ago I did a very impromptu "photoshoot" with the Denny family. We just walked over to Forest Cove Park from their house and I followed Tye around a bit for some casual pictures. I can't believe he's already 2 1/2 years old! Isn't he adorable??! :) I feel like he was just born yesterday!

Here are my favorite pics of my favorite little guy:
(ok, I obviously have a hard time narrowing them down ;) )

Finding my passion...

So sorry for not updating recently! Life has gotten very busy, and I know I haven't even uploaded our 3,000+ pictures from our trip to Israel yet but I promise I'll put up a link to our web gallery once they're up! In the meantime, I've been working my photography skills and trying to build my own business. I have a new camera and new accessories and been taking photos pretty much everywhere I'm going! My amazing wedding photographer, Jennifer Carrillo of Bella Rosa Photography has been very generous with her time and knowledge and has pretty much taken me on as an intern. I've accompanied her to 2 weddings and a family shoot so far, and have spent time with her as she takes time to give me feedback on my photos and teaches me things I haven't yet learned. I feel so lucky, and I'm really soaking everything in! I'm working on getting the pictures up from the weddings I accompanied Jennifer one, but for the meantime you'll have to settle for my own photoshoots :)

A couple of weeks ago I had my very first paid photo shoot! Thanks to my friend Deanna (who I did maternity shots for a couple months ago), who referred me to her very nice friend Baber, a realtor in Beverly Hills who needed new headshots. I was super nervous as he was paying me, but Deanna came along with her film camera and we both posed and shot him and it was actually really fun! He was easy going and relaxed for the most part, so I hope he's happy with them! I'm also learning/teaching myself how to edit in photoshop, which is fun but really time-consuming and confusing, but I did what I could to make the images pop a little more.

Remember the maternity photos I posted of Deanna and her belly? Well here are some recent pictures I snapped of her now almost 3-month-old baby boy, Josh, and her daughter Sara (almost 3 years old). So cute!! There are my favs:

Adorable, right??

Brian is currently working on my photo blog/website so eventually I will move on over there and start posting all my photos like a "professional". hehe I'm far from that, but I'm working on it!

There are changes coming our way, and I like 'em! I love that I finally realized that I can turn my passion/hobby for photography into a business. I think it will be great to be able to make some extra money while doing what I love, and have time to be a stay-at-home mom as well, which is my ultimate dream :)

Until next time! No promises until when that will be... sorry Henny!)

Love,
Lauren

my first photo shoot!

Back in August, when I had my first DSLR (I sold it after 6 months to upgrade), I was itching to take pictures. My friend Deanna was due mid-August and asked me to take maternity photos for her right before she had her baby, and before we left on our trip to Israel. I was nervous at first even though I made a long list of shots I wanted to take, but soon fell into a rhythm and got some great shots of Deanna, her belly and her adorable daughter Sara. It was great practice for me! In the next entry I'll post pictures of her now 2-month old son, josh, who is simply scrumptious!

(Don't know why you'd want to, but please don't grab these off the blog to use anywhere without my permission. Thanks!)
